HOW I GOT HERE

I was born in Northern California, raised in the Chicago suburbs, and educated in the South and San Francisco, where I earned a BA in English from the University of Virginia, an MA in English from Tulane University, and an AOS from the California Culinary Academy. One marriage to a chef, three kids, and a decade living in Napa Valley later, my family and I returned to my husband's home state of North Carolina in 2016. Moving to Chapel Hill, where my husband attended college and his parents met in high school, felt like a homecoming to a brand new home.

NOW THAT I'M HERE

Possibly unfortunately for my husband and children, but hopefully fortunately for the rest of the world, I never met a cause I didn't like.  Over the years that has meant extensive volunteer work for my children's schools, including fundraising, being PTA President and on the board of my children's school, two terms on the SIT team for Northside Elementary, and phone banking and canvassing with organizations like Neighbors on Call and Lillian's List.

Upon moving to North Carolina I worked as Content Director at Leland Little Auctions while unofficially helping my husband open our first Chapel Hill restaurant, Hawthorne & Wood.  In 2021 I officially returned to the restaurant world as the Director of Design, Marketing, and Outreach for both Hawthorne & Wood and our second Chapel Hill restaurant, Bluebird.

When not trying to fix the world, I'm taking care of our three kids, two dogs, and one bunny, reading, exercising, eating, Tarheel fan-ing, and spending time with our wonderful tribe of Chapel Hill friends and family.
